Stan Ward

I took a portrait of the famous boxing coach Stan Ward. He was one of the best heavy weight boxers back in the day. We work together at In Training.

Cuba 2012

Here I am riding a 1959 Harley Davidson in Havana. I was in Cuba for 8 days, photographing judo, boxing, dance, street portraits and much more. There will be an online exhibit, eventually.

Hollywood Judo Dojo – 80 years!

 Our Judo Club celebrated 80 years. Among the 60 guests were former champions, as well as current members. We had a great evening. Here are some pictures, Me and the  legendary Gene Lebelle, the present and former Senseis. 

In a few hours I leave for Cuba to take pictures. It’s been 8 years since my last visit.

Jose Feliciano

I was lucky to see Jose Feliciano perform twice in L.A this week. At age 67, he plays and sounds better than ever!

Pilgrimage to Italy

I flew to Nice, France to pick up my mother and together we drove to my father’s and grandfather’s village of Varallo in the Italian Alps. We met up with my uncle and aunt and some old friends of my father’s. Together we visited the cemetery and we put flowers on my father’s grave. My uncle told me heroic stories about my father that I had never before heard. It was a very emotional trip. We managed to have some amazing regional food and wine. Here are some pictures from Varallo of my uncle, myself and my mother.

My Judo Students

The Hollywood Judo Club is advancing rapidly. Not only are we gaining new members, but the regular students are getting better and better. The new hours, as from October 1st, are Mon/Wed/Fri from 7.30-9.30 pm.

My photography at Bronze Studios

Well-known designer Michael Berman has opened his exclusive showroom Bronze Studios in Los Angeles. I am proud to have my work displayed and for sale there, as I am an admirer of Michael’s work quite a bit.

Judo Club Facelift

The Hollywood Judo Club, where I teach, has a brand new judo mat. We also created a weight and circuit training section. Here’s a pic of the Dojo and some of our class members.

My New Painting

I bought this unusual and absolutely fantastic painting by Michael Lindsay-Hogg. It is unusual because it shows his father Orson Wells together with his mother Geraldine Fitzgerald and Michael himself as a young boy. There’s more to the story, but you have to read Michael’s book Luck and Circumstance to get the scoop.
